Kelly (Scarlett Johansson) je dravá newyorská marketérka a Cole (Channing Tatum) zase idealistický letový inžinier. Obaja pracujú na najväčšom vesmírnom projekte Apollo 11 – a neznášajú sa. Kým Kelly má na starosti napraviť obraz NASA v očiach verejnosti a o detaily vesmírnej vedy sa nezaujíma, Coleova misia je dostať prvých ľudí bezpečne na Mesiac a späť a je mu jedno, že jeho astronauti sú väčšie hviezdy ako Beatles. Keď však spolu začnú tráviť viac času, zistia, že k sebe cítia viac, než boli pôvodne ochotní si priznať.
